Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ Page).  Below I’ve answered the most

Common questions people ask.  If your question isn’t answered here, please feel free to contact

                        Me!  Doulainfo@yahoo.com or call 908.492-4987.

      What is a “Postpartum Doula?”

A Postpartum Doula is essentially a professional helper who specializes in helping families after the birth.

This includes providing Physical, Emotional, Informational, and Practical Support.  (Mom & Baby Care,

Resources, Household Help & More)  Click on Services for a more detailed description.

      Who needs a Postpartum Doula?

Any family who wants a smoother transition!!  First-Time Parents benefit from having an experienced,

Knowledgeable person to support and guide them in the beginning.  Growing Families find that balancing

Their attention between the new baby and other children is easier with extra help.  People having twins or

Multiple births need additional help and for longer periods.

When is the best time to look for a Postpartum Doula?

It’s never too early—A Doula can help you find a childbirth professionals and classes and help you begin to establish a support network.  However, the beginning of the Third Trimester (or earlier) is an excellent time.  As you approach your due date, it’s easier to anticipate your needs.  A Prenatal Consultation provides a opportunity to establish a rapport and insures my availability, however, I’ve started to work with many families AFTER THE BIRTH.  So, if you, or someone you know needs help, please contact me!  (Also, for more Postpartum Support Info, click Links)

Is Doula Care covered by Insurance?

The majority of clients pay for care directly, or are given the care as a gift.  However, some insurance

Companies do reimburse you for the care.  This cost is covered by Flex Pay accounts, and is tax deductible.

And, since research has proven that Postpartum Doula Care reduces Postpartum Depression and increases

Breastfeeding success and duration, more insurance companies are beginning to include it.

What if I want to give Doula Care as a Gift or Gift Certificate?

The very fortunate parents and families who have received such gifts are profoundly moved.  Unlike baby

Clothes or toys, so quickly outgrown, Doula Care is a QUALITY OF LIFE GIFT.  At a time when most are

Fatigued and a bit overwhelmed, it can be the best gift at all because it adapts to their needs.  (whether they need a nap, shower, lunch prepared, or some emotional support….)

If you are interested in giving a Gift Certificate for any of the available packages or Postpartum Doula Care,

Please contact me!  While it is lovely to surprise people, in this area, I feel it’s important to at least clarify

That the intended recipient wants this type of help and understands the concept of a “Postpartum Doula.”

Beyond that, I’m happy to customize or adapt an existing package to fit their needs and your budget!
