I’ve
always loved babies and children. Becoming
a mother myself changed EVERYTHING. I
never anticipated how exhausting it would be!
I thought
everyone had to struggle in the beginning. Later, I discovered an alternative: A Postpartum Doula!
Since
that time, I have completed two Postpartum Doula trainings, and am a
Certified Postpartum Doula with CAPPA (Childbirth And Postpartum Professional Association).
I also completed Certification as a
Breastfeeding Peer Counselor through the Visiting Nurse
Association, and was a member of their Breastfeeding Staff for more than a year. I am also Certified in Infant/Child
CPR.
This past fall, we
welcomed our second child. In the first
few weeks, I thought how fortunate we were that our daughter was adjusting so
well. I was surprised to see it all fall
apart in the second month! It took some
time, and a great deal of individual attention and reassurance, but she’s now
adjusted to her new role. For me, it
really stressed how poorly defined the postpartum period is—it really needs to
be looked at in terms of months—not weeks!
Each
family
is unique and I support their priorities and decisions without judgment. I’ve learned
something from each family I’ve
worked with. It’s an honor to be part
of such an
exceptional and special
time. I love being able to alleviate
stresses
and help parents make the most of
their baby’s first days and weeks.
I
am fully insured and can provide references.
